Addressing the people of Bihar through a video conference, the PM charged that dynasts born with a silver spoon have always treated poor, hardworking women as objects of exploitation. “A mother is the world to us… mother is our dignity. I had never even imagined such a thing would happen in Bihar which has such a rich tradition. Nobody in Bihar or anywhere in the country had imagined that. Abuses were hurled on my mother from a RJD-Congress platform in Bihar. These abuses are not just an insult to my mother… This is an insult to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the country. I am aware that all of you, all mothers, daughters and brothers in Bihar have felt very bad on seeing and hearing this. I know that the people of Bihar are as pained as I am,” Modi said.
He addressed the people of Bihar virtually after launching the ‘Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited’ scheme.
On August 28, a person, said to be a minor, allegedly hurled abuses at PM Modi from the stage of a RJD-Congress rally in Darbhanga being held as part of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’. However, Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi were not present on the dais when the incident occurred. BJP had raised strong objections to the use of such language and lodged an FIR against Gandhi in Patna.
The PM was in Japan when the incident occurred.
In his first address after his return, the PM said, “I see lakhs of mothers and sisters have gathered here. After all, I am also a son. I am sharing my pain with you all so that I can bear it.”Recalling the sacrifice and blessings of his mother, who passed away in December 2022, Modi said, “My mother freed me from all responsibilities and blessed me to go and serve the people. I moved ahead with her blessings.”The PM said he was pained that his mother, who had nothing to do with politics and who is no longer alive, has been abused from the dais of a RJD-Congress programme. “I can see the faces of mothers and sisters here. I can see the tears of some women. What is the fault of my mother that she is getting dirty abuses? A mother bears many hardships to educate her children and give them high values. Hence the place of a mother is above the gods and goddesses,” he said.
Modi also slammed dynasts in politics, alluding to Gandhi and Tejashwi. “The princes born in royal families do not understand the pain and penance of a poor mother. These dynasts were born with a gold-silver spoon. They see the seat of power in the country and in Bihar as their family’s legacy. They feel they should get the seat of power. But you, the people of this country, blessed the worker son of a poor mother and made him Pradhan sewak. The dynasts are not able to digest this,” Modi said.
He alleged that Congress can never tolerate the progress of anybody from the backward and most backward communities. “They feel it is the right of dynasts to abuse the workers… Hence they hurl a string of abuses… Abusing women shows the mindset of one who thinks they are weak. This mindset treats women as an object for exploitation and atrocities. Whenever people with such thinking have got power, women have faced difficulties,” he said.
