Miami born actress Anya Taylor-Joy rose to fame for her roles in films and television shows including The Witch, The Queen’s Gambit and Peaky Blinders.
The Critics’ Choice Award-winning actress will be starring in a new psychological thriller Last Night in Soho. In a video of the actress, fans have been left wondering whether that is really her singing to Petula Clarke’s “Downtown.”
Is Anya Taylor-Joy singing in Last Night in Soho?
After speculation over social media over who was singing in the music video for “Downtown,” Edgar Wright confirmed that it is in fact the 25-year-old actress singing her heart out to the moody track which will feature in the upcoming movie Last Night in Soho.
On Wednesday (20th October) Anya Taylor-Joy shared the music video of “Downtown” with the caption:” It’s not every day you’re asked to record several versions of an iconic song. The sounds of the 60s were what first made me fall in love with music so I was overjoyed when Edgar asked me to give it a go.”
Anya Taylor-Joy is also set to perform several other original songs for the movie Last Night in Soho. On September 27th Edgar Wright announced that there will be two soundtracks for the film in which Anya will sing both covers and new songs.
