Kanye West finally dropped his much-anticipated album, ‘DONDA’ on Sunday.
Chaotic releases are nothing new from Ye, but this one has been a bit crazier than most with tracklist amends and even a change in title.
But fans have been left wondering is DaBaby still featured on the album?
DaBaby’s homophobic comments
The spotlight has been firmly put on DaBaby recently after the rapper made homophobic comments at a gig in Miami.
Videos shared across social media show him telling the crowd:
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light up.”
He also targeted gay men in references to other sexual activities, asking those who did not take part in them to “put your cellphone light up”.
After the comments made being condemned by social media users as homophobic, the rapper responded by saying:
“What I do at a live show is for the audience at the live show.
It’ll never translate correctly to somebody looking at a little five, six-second clip from their goddamn crib on their phone. It just don’t work like that.
Because, regardless of what y’all m———–s are talking about and how the internet twisted up my m———-g words, me and all my fans at the show, the gay ones and the straight ones, we turned the f–k up.”
Is DaBaby featured on ‘DONDA’?
- Yes, he features on ‘Jail Pt. 2’.
Although, this wasn’t the case when the album was initially dropped on Spotify. When the album was released early Sunday morning, ‘Jail Pt. 2’ was not available to play.
Ye posted a screenshot on his Instagram of a text conversation with his manager, Abou ‘Bu’ Thiam in which the manager tells Kanye that DaBaby’s manager hadn’t cleared his cameo.
In the screenshots, Ye’s manager Bu says:
“DaBaby’s manager isn’t clearing ‘Jail. So we won’t be able to upload unless we take him off.”
When Kanye asked why DaBaby’s manager won’t clear the song, Bu said, “I don’t know. And neither is answering there phone.”
Kanye replied: “I’m not taking my brother off. He was the only person who said he would vote for me in public.”
Why did DaBaby’s manager delay the release of ‘DONDA’?
All eyes were on DaBaby’s manager, Arnold Taylor who Ye said is responsible for the verse not being cleared, and resultingly delaying the album’s release.
Arnold Taylor responded to Yeezy’s claim calling it “CAP”.
“This is CAP, I woke up this morning to this social media bullshit,” Taylor wrote alongside a screenshot of what appears to be a conversation between Kanye and DaBaby.
Arnold went on to say:
“I never got a call or email from @kanyewest @__bu @johnmonopoly I just received it today and cleared it in 2 seconds. Why wouldn’t I want a hit song out when #SCMG is all about the growth and culture of hip hop and my artist!!! To all of the media blogs and outlets don’t believe everything you see in a post, thank you!!!”
