Several social media apps are down currently including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and it seems that now some people are having problems with their network too.
While social media being down may bring the welcome break away from the screen we all need, it can also be incredibly stressful and frustrating.
Here’s everything we know about the situation…
Is EE down?
On the report tracker website DownDetector there have been just under 3,000 reports of EE’s network being down since 5:34pm.
Other network users have also complained about issues with their 4g, saying that the internet on their phones is not working.
However, EE has not confirmed anything yet, so it may just be that many users are thinking the problem is with their data rather than the sites they are trying to get onto.
Several social media sites are down currently, which is a problem with their servers, not your network.
However, many people on Twitter have said that despite the social media platforms being down, their data is working slowly and sporadically on other apps.
Massive social media outage explained
The three apps owned by Facebook: WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram have all gone down in a massive social media outage. They are run on shared infrastructure.
Instagram users are currently unable to refresh their feeds or view new content on the app due to the social media outage and WhatsApp users are unable to send messages.
Report tracking website DownDetector shows that over 30,000 people have reported an Instagram outage since 4:49pm today.
Users who want to get onto Facebook are met with a message which reads: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
