What if my brokerage offers extended-hours trading?

While many popular brokerages — like Robinhood, Schwab, and Interactive Brokers — allow users to make premarket, after-hours, overnight, and weekend trades on a limited basis, these features do not extend to stock market Holidays.

So, even if your preferred brokerage offers 24-hour trading, this feature won’t be available during Martin Luther King, Jr. Day stock market holiday.

Brokerages that offer 24-hour trading of certain securities may allow users to begin once the clock strikes midnight (ET) and it becomes Tuesday the 21st. Similarly, brokerages that allow for pre-market trading may allow users to begin buying and selling from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on Tuesday the 21st.
