Under contract for a house in SoCal.
Inspection was yesterday. The photos in the link are of the attached-to-the-house garage floor. Inspector noted that the vertical cracks (along the floor and the 90 degrees up) are evidence of possible foundation issues. Floor in the living room is hardwood and there are definitely high spots and sunken low spots. Slab outdoor patio outside living room is covered by carpet (who would do this?!?!) but a very small portion of the carpet could be pulled up and also showed some slab cracking. All other rooms in the house seemed fine. Outside/inside walls and ceilings showed no cracking/shearing but there was a recent painted patch job about an inch to five inches (it varies along its length) or so above ground stretching for maybe 35 feet along one side of the house.

So, is this a failing slab? Am I in for a world of hurt? I’m trying to get a foundation guy out there to check things out before the inspection contingency runs, but wanted to get some thoughts from others as well.
