NRL club St George Illawarra wants to bring dual international Israel Folau back to play in Australia.
The NRL is reportedly set to consider the proposal, which would allow Folau to join rugby league’s Dragons on a two-year deal to play in the centres.
“We understand there will be a range of opinions in regards to this decision, but we believe he would be a good addition to our club,” Dragons chief executive Ryan Webb told The Sydney Morning Herald.
Folau, who has represented Australia in rugby union and rugby league, was sacked by Rugby Australia in 2019 for making homophobic comments. Early in 2020, he signed a one-year contract with French Super League club the Catalan Dragons.
