Jack Fincham admits he is ‘really struggling’ with depression in August
Jack Fincham says he is thrilled to be earning money again after turning his back on fame and starting work on a building site.
The 30-year-old reality star was a focal point of pop culture for a brief time after appearing on Love Island back in 2018 – in which he won the show along with now ex-girlfriend Dani Dyer, 25.
And while the world of reality stars can. Be a brutal one where some fly to go on to become This Morning presenters, many others disappear back to obscurity and out of the public consciousness.
Sadly for Jack, fame has not been far from kind since his Love Island win with job opportunities swiftly drying up, and fans growing concerned after he was found by police loitering in a car park at 5am back in July.
Jack Fincham has revealed he’s working as a builder (
Now Jack – who only recently debuted on reality series The Only Way Is Essex – has explained that he has changed up his career to work on a building site rather than chase reality fame.
He told the Anything Goes with James English podcast: “I’m getting up at five or six o’clock everyday and I’m on the building site, I’m driving the dumper and I loved it.
“Not because I want to be a builder but because I want to keep my brain busy.”
Jack’s surprising career move comes three years after he won Love Island alongside ex-girlfriend Dani Dyer in 2018 (
“I was sitting there waiting for jobs to come to me and it wasn’t happening. I’ve got to go out and get it and it shows I’m being active.
“I’m earning money again.”
However, the star has also hinted fans haven’t seen the last of him as a reality star and influencer as the Daily Mail he wants to turn his life around after a drug-driving charge against him was dropped.
The publication claimed Jack is: “still continuing his career as a celebrity and his management is in talks with various big brands about project ideas.”
Jack – who shares an 11-month-old daughter with ex-girlfriend and NHS worker Casey Ranger – said he wants to spend more time with his daughter after her mother claimed he had not been paying enough attention to her.
Jack had been due to appear in court on earlier this month charged with being behind the wheel of his Mercedes while under the influence of cocaine and Valium – but the Crown Prosecution Service dropped his case.
He said in his candid podcast interview: “I want to be recognised as being good enough, not the one who f***ed it up. The one that people say ‘he could have done so well’.
Jack says he wants to turn his life around for his daughter, Blossom (
“I don’t want to be known as that person. I want them to say yeah he did f*** up but look what he’s done now.
“I’ve got no choice. With my addictive personality, it’s that or death. I know that sounds extreme, but that’s the truth.
“If I don’t turn my life around it’s that or death. It’ll be crashing a car or taking too much of something. They’re the choices.”
