BRIT viewers accused Jack Whitehall of going ‘too far’ with some of his jokes at Tuesday night’s ceremony.
The stand-up returned to host the music bash for the four year and revelled in poking fun at some of the year’s most controversial moments from Rita Ora’s pandemic party to Piers Morgan quitting GMB.
However, some fans took to Twitter to accuse the presenter of going too far by throwing it back to Kanye West’s long-running beef with Taylor Swift, just as the pop princess went to pick up her Global Icon award.
Fans slammed Jack for making the moment about Kanye when Taylor was making history as the first woman to pick up the prestigious trophy.
The funnyman cracked a joke about Taylor handing the mini-version of her BRIT’s gong to her musical nemesis as he stood next to Little Mix.
Fans watching at home claimed to notice the girlband squirm uncomfortably at the mention of rapper Kanye ahead of Taylor’s time on stage.
“Jack Whitehall has had a lot of terrible jokes through the Brits but the k*nye “joke” after saying Taylor Swift was winning the global icon award was extremely uncalled for. The “joke” is so outdated and unfunny. Even Little Mix gasped and looked disgusted. Do better,” fumed one.
“Little Mix and Taylor deserve better,” agreed another.
While others shared screenshots of Jade Thrilwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s ‘awkward’ faces to camera.
While Perrie Edwards also asked Jack to reign it in when he joked about her and Leigh-Anne’s newly announced pregnancies.
“My next question on my card is what do you do to pass the time in lockdown?” teased Jack.
Leigh-Anne hid behind her hands while Jade shuffled in the seat beside her.
“He went there, he actually went there,” quipped Leigh-Anne.
“I wasn’t going to ask it…the proof is in the pudding. When you weren’t making Little Mix’s…” teased Jack.
Perrie then interrupted: “STOP! My dad will be watching.”
