Jake Paul has reluctantly agreed to an immediate rematch with Tyron Woodley – on one condition.
Paul beat Woodley via split decision in Cleveland on Monday (AEST), marking the first time in his career that he had been taken past two rounds.
However, while most had Paul as the unanimous winner, one of the judges had Woodley as the victor, leading to a controversial split decision.
“That’s bulls***,” Paul complained afterwards. “Especially in my home town. Where’s that judge at?”
Woodley was equally as annoyed, claiming that he should have won the fight and if it wasn’t for the ropes, Paul would have tumbled through them on the way to his first knock down.
“I feel like I won the fight,” he said. “F*** the Fury fight – me and Jake need to run that back. I want a rematch.”
When asked whether Paul would face Tyson Fury’s younger brother Tommy next, he replied: “I haven’t gone to the dentist, I haven’t gotten my haircut. My teeth are crooked, my nose is crooked, I may need to chill out for a bit. I’m still only 24.”
But Woodley wasn’t having any of that, and demanded the two run it back as soon as possible, despite Paul and his brother Logan both insisting his time was over and they were moving on.
That was until the younger Paul brother came up with the one condition.
Before the fight, the two men agreed the loser would get a tattoo of the winner’s choice tattooed on them.
“Of course you want the payday, you’ve had your opportunity,” Paul said. “You had your chance, I’m nothing but respectful to you now. If you get the tattoo ‘I love Jake Paul’, let’s run it back.”
Woodley agreed, responding “bet” with the two men shaking hand on the deal in the middle of the ring.
