Joe Swash thinks he’s found the perfect present for his fiancée Stacey Solomon ahead of Christmas, but he worries it won’t top the gift he got her last year – when he proposed to her
Joe Swash has found the perfect Christmas present for Stacey Solomon – but he worries it won’t top his festive proposal.
The couple got engaged on Christmas Eve last year and whilst Joe now thinks he’s finally “mastered” buying festive gifts and presents for the Loose Women presenter, he knows he won’t be able to top the gift he got her last year.
This Christmas will mark their first one in Pickle Cottage and their first as a family of seven, with Joe recently dishing to us all about their festive plans after the arrival of baby Rose.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “I suppose last year was pretty special because me and Stacey got engaged on Christmas Eve so probably last year was the best present I’ve given. There’s no topping that this year.”
Joe confessed he suffers with “present block” and struggles to find the perfect gifts for his loved ones – before going out to panic buy.
“You know what, sometimes I’m really good at buying Christmas presents, sometimes I’m not,” he added, “Like a writer gets writer’s block – I have sort of present block where I’m like oh what am I going to get Stacey.
“I’ll think oh I’ll get her some trainers but I’ll get her four pairs of trainers and that’ll be really good and she’s like why have you got me four pairs of trainers? Or I’ll go into The White Company and get her all the towels.”
Stacey has told Joe how she prefers little bits to open rather than one big present, something which he think he’s finally mastered.
He shared: “I’ve learned I need to spread it out – Stacey prefers loads of little bits to open. But I think I’ve mastered it.
“I’m doing really well this year, I think. I’ve got a couple of little bits to get and a couple of people to get things for but it’s nothing that I have to stress out about. I’ve done the bulk of it, so I’m pretty happy at the moment.”
He explained: “That’s why I’m quite pleased with myself this year because usually I’m last minute and then I panic and when I panic is when I do it all wrong and buy four pairs of trainers or something like that. So this year, I’ve started early and it’s all in control.”
