John Barrowman faces axe from Dancing On Ice after inappropriate behaviour claims

John Barrowman faces the axe from Dancing On Ice after claims of inappropriate behaviour.

The judge, who joined the ITV hit show last year, explained away claims he exposed himself on BBC’s Doctor Who and spin-off Torchwood as “tomfoolery” and maintained it was never sexual.

But ITV bosses are concerned for the reputation of the squeaky clean family show.

A source told The Sun : “Ever since allegations against John came to light, discussions have been ongoing over his future on the panel of Dancing On Ice.

“But the feeling now is there is no way we can invite him back. ITV has shown they are prepared to act decisively when stars are accused of inappropriate behaviour. And it seems this situation will not be the exception to the rule.”

According to The Guardian, a number of people on the set of both BBC shows claim to have seen the actor exposing himself.

One of the women who spoke to The Guardian were quoted as saying: “He would get his genitals out on a regular basis.”

Witnesses that came forward also maintained that the Capt Jack Harkness character appeared to be pulling ‘inappropriate pranks’ rather than predatory.

Barrowman said his “high-spirited behaviour” was “only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage”.

He went on: “With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously.

“Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.”

He had previously apologised after an appearance on BBC Radio One in 2008 which saw him expose himself live on air.

The allegations about Barrowman’s behaviour followed a video resurfacing online of Doctor Who co-stars Noel Clarke and Camille Coduri and Annette Badland appearing on a panel, with Clarke discussing Barrowman exposing himself on-set.

Clarke himself was recently accused of misconduct by 20 women following a report in The Guardian, but the actor vehemently denies the allegations.

In a statement, Clarke said he understood that “some of my actions have affected people in ways I did not intend or realise” and said he was “deeply sorry” to those individuals.

A statement from an ITV spokesperson here: “Any discussions regarding the 2022 series of Dancing on Ice are very premature. Production has yet to commence.”
