There’s some records you just don’t want.
And on Saturday, New Zealand-born, Aussie-based Justin Tafa experienced just that.
Stepping on the scales ahead of UFC Vegas 45, Tafa became the first heavyweight in the organisation’s history to miss weight.

That’s right, Tafa came in at 267lbs (121kg); a pound over the heavyweight limit for a non-title fight.
While there have been close calls in the past — Greg Hardy coming in over in October, before tipping the scales at 264.5lbs on his second attempt — no one has ever just missed weight completely.
While Tafa’s was possibly more stunning, he wasn’t the only fighter to miss weight on the undercard of the Derrick Lewis-Chris Daukaus event.
Sijara Eubanks (127.5) came in over the flyweight limit, while Macy Chiasson also made history; tipping the scales at 148.5lbs to register the highest weight ever by a female fighter in the UFC.
