Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: A look back at their relationship
Kanye West has filed legal documents to prevent his estranged wife Kim Kardashian reverting back to her birth name.
The Donda rapper, 45, has filed new legal documents in response to his soon-to-be ex wife’s petition to the judge to declare her single.
In the legal documents seen by The Mirror, a lawyer acting on behalf of the singer seems to object to the possibility that Kim, 41, may remarry and move some of their joint assets to her own separate accounts.
The dad-of-four is allegedly fine with the reality TV star obtaining a single status, but only on the condition measures are in place over their joint assets remaining marital property.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are currently in the process of divorcing
Kim – who still goes by ‘Kim Kardashian West’ on Instagram and Twitter – filed for divorce from Kanye in February 2021, after six years of marriage and welcoming four children into the world together.
According to the legal documents, Kanye – now legally known as Ye – wants three conditions to their divorce, all of which his lawyer claims Kim has rejected.
The Grammy award-winning artist reportedly wants to ensure that if either him or Kim were to die, any money that might be owed to either of them gets reimbursed.

The legal documents also propose that Kim is blocked from transferring assets out of any trust they created and for the trainee lawyer to waive their marital privilege pending a final custody decision.
According to the court documents, Kanye also wants to ensure that in the event Kim ever remarries, she would waive any spousal privilege between her and her new husband.
This would mean that any conversations between Kim and her new husband that relate to custody would be able to be discussed in court.
The legal documents are the latest development in the ongoing divorce drama
In the former couple’s ongoing divorce proceedings, Kim was able to keep the pair’s £44million Hidden Hills mansion so their four children, North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two, could remain in their childhood home.
The legal documents come in the wake of Kim unfollowing her soon-to-be ex-husband on Instagram, after the rapper’s frequent social media outbursts.
In recent weeks, Ye has been using Instagram as a platform to post attacks aimed at the mum-of-four’s current boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

The Saturday Night Live comic – who appears to have returned to Instagram after a four-year break – has been subjected to threats from Kanye, in both social media posts and the rapper’s new music.
Kanye often swiftly deletes his posts about Pete, 28, but his most recent outburst proved to be enough for mum-of-four Kim, who unfollowed her ex earlier this week.
Fans have become concerned for the Keeping Up for the Kardashians star – after her estranged husband published their private texts online and sent her an unsolicited van of roses to her house on Valentine’s Day.
