In a pre-recorded video message aired Friday, Dec. 12, King Charles III shared that his cancer treatment will be reduced in the coming year. “I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year,” he said. “This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years.”
The message was filmed in November from the Morning Room at Clarence House, the official London residence he shares with Queen Camilla, as per a report by USA Today.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Friday that the king has “responded exceptionally well to treatment,” adding that doctors have advised moving his care into a “precautionary phase.” The palace noted that his condition will continue to be closely monitored to protect his recovery.

Charles’ cancer was detected earlier this year following tests after a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. He was briefly hospitalized after experiencing side effects from treatment, as per a report by USA Today.
The king’s diagnosis came shortly before Princess Kate also revealed she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. In January, she subsequently declared that she was in remission.
