Koerstz Madsen entered the final day with a one shot lead over Xiyu Lin of China and France’s Celine Boutier and appeared on her way to a comfortable win before bogeys at the par-3 16th and par-5 last.
Meanwhile, Lin made back-to-back birdies at the 17th and 18th to draw level at 26-under-par and force extra holes.
Squaring the first hole, the Dane holed a 10 foot putt for eagle on the second play-off hole to claim her first win on the world’s premier women’s Tour at 27 years of age.
“It’s amazing. It’s a dream come true,” Koerstz Madsen said. “It was a crazy day; a lot of good things. It was actually fun playing the playoff with Janet at the end. I’m really excited to be standing with the trophy right now.”
Minjee Lee was the best performer of the Aussie contingent on the final day, the West Australian signing for a 69 to finish in a share of 12th at 19 under. Su Oh and Hannah Green recording matching 70s to finish T21 and T27 respectively.
