Lady Colin Campbell has weighed in on Ruthie Henshall’s shocking revelations about romping with Prince Edward and her rule-breaking encounters with other senior royals during last night’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Viewers were stunned as the West End star, 53, confided in Shane Richie about her romance with her royal ex boyfriend, who she described as a ‘lovely man.’
Recalling some highlights of their five year romance, Ruthie said she gave the royal family a drunken intimate performance after Prince Charles got her ‘p****d’ on martinis during a jaunt to Balmoral.
She then shockingly bragged to the EastEnders actor: “You performed in Buckingham Palce, you sang in the gardens, I s*****d in the bedrooms.”
Lady C was asked to give her opinion on Ruthie’s tales as she appeared on I’m A Celebrity spin off The Daily Drop the following day – and as usual the outspoken star did not hold back.
First Lady C pointed out that Ruthie broke a number of strict royal protocols in her meetings with senior members of the monarchy.
Blasting Ruthie for ‘shaking hands’ with the Queen, Lady C quipped: “She should have said your majesty, curtsied then ‘ma’am’ thereafter.
However, Lady C did say that Ruthie’s story proves “that the characterisation that the Royal family is being portrayed – in a series that we will not mention by name – is completely inaccurate.
“There’s all sort of nonsense about the ‘Balmoral Test’, which has never taken place,” she fumed.
“Ruthie has proven that the Royals go out of their way at Balmoral to make their guests feel comfortable,” joked Lady C.
“Also it has to be said that Prince Edward is a really great guy,” she added.
Fellow guest Melvin Odoom responded: “I went to Buckingham Palace once and was told I couldn’t take pictures. To find out that Ruthie was flirting with a Royal in there and got busy in there is a really big deal for me”
Lady C said: “That’s because he lived there. He had his own suite of rooms there. They live there, they can do pretty much what they want.”
The discussion was over Friday night’s jam packed episode, which saw Ruthie divulge stories about her encounters with the royal family that left viewers enthralled.
She revealed that she had been to Windsor, Balmoral and the Queen’s estate in Scotland during her relationship with Prince Edward.
She said: “He invited me to Windsor for the weekend as we’re walking I’m seeing a table outside and there’s people sitting round it and I’m thinking that looks like the Queen and I remembered my dad had said to me that if you ever meet the Queen he said you curtsy and call her ma’am.
“I grab her hand like this [handshake]forget all about the curtsy and I’m like really really pleased to meet you, really pleased to meet you.”
Fellow campmate Shane then asked: “Did you know Diana much?’
Ruthie replied: “I met her a couple of times and one of my favourite times was we were at Balmoral, there was Diana, The Queen, Margaret, the Queen Mother, Charles, Edward, myself.'”
The theatre star said that Diana was ‘lovely’, however she doesn’t ‘remember an awful lot because Charles gave me my first martini.’
“I’d never tried it before so I was fairly… I had two of them and I was like woah…”, said Ruthie.
“Let me tell you. Margaret she goes “yes, yes, oh sing us a song from that show you’re in” and I was in Les Mis at the time. So I sang I Dreamed A Dream and I must have changed key three times because I was so p****d on martinis.”
