As Line of Duty’s Superintendent Ted Hastings his voice would give you sleepless nights if you were a bent copper working for the OCG.
But actor Adrian Dunbar’s reassuring tones have been lulling kids to sleep for years on the audio version of a classic bedtime book.
Adrian, 62, recorded Sam McBratney’s Guess How Much I Love You some 13 years ago – following the story to the letter.
The letter.
He even sings lullabies in it to help the little ones drift off into sweet dreams – hopefully well before the sixth-series finale kicks off at 9pm tomorrow.
One fan said: “Most villains and corrupt cops would be kept awake at night with nightmares at the thought of a Ted Hasting interrogation – but my kids have listened to Adrian’s singing to lull them to sleep for years.”
The award-winning story features Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare, a father and son who find increasingly large examples to compare how much they love one another.
No mention of the wee donkey, though…
The book has sold 43 million copies worldwide, in 57 languages, since being published in 1994.
Now that’s really sucking diesel.
