Liverpool are in a race against time to sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, according to reports. Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Preston centre-back Ben Davies for a fee of around £2million. But Davies is not the only defender Jurgen Klopp wants to bring to Anfield.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car and Lille’s Sven Botman.
But it appears Kabak is the player the Merseyside club are aiming to get a deal over the line for.
Turkey international Kabak has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past.
The 20-year-old has spent the last two years playing in Germany, having left Galatasary to join Stuttgart in January 2019.
He then joined Schalke on a five-year deal the following summer following an impressive spell at Stuttgart.
Sky Sports News claim a deal to take Kabak to Liverpool is likely to be a loan until the end of the season, with the option to buy.
Liverpool have already planned for the player to take a medical in Germany if a deal can be struck with Schalke.
