Hi all. I am in the process of buying my first home. I asked for 60 days to close and have a closing date of March 25th. Everything with my loan has gone through and we are just waiting on the appraisal. I paid $500 for the appraisal on the day my offer was accepted and was just told today that the loan officer can only find one approved appraiser in my area and it’s going to be $3000. That seems absolutely crazy high, especially since I asked for 60 days to close to give everything plenty of time. Am I just totally screwed at this point?
