Luke Bryan has finally broken his silence after receiving several backlashes for bringing Gov. Ron DeSantis to the stage during his recent Jacksonville concert.
The singer decided to bring Gov. DeSantis on Friday while he was performing but fans were not too happy about his actions.
It did not take long for them to start commenting online which pushed the singer to break his silence.
What happened at his concert?
On Friday, October 28, Luke was performing at Jacksonville and had been interacting with all his fans when he decided to bring DeSantis to the stage.
The singer brought him to the stage to talk about raising money after several homes and families were destroyed due to Hurricane Ian.
While DeSantis’ arrival received cheers from the crowd at the concert, the internet did not take it well as they were quick o come after Luke.
Singer receives backlash
People were not too happy with the singer bringing DeSantis to the stage due to the viewpoints he held. Fans thought by supporting him Luke was also supporting everything he believed in terms of politics.
This caused a huge flood of negative responses online and some of them did not hold back in expressing the same on Twitter.
One user wrote: “Luke Bryan, who chooses to never make a political statement ever because he thinks it’s important to be “smart” when you’re in the spotlight, chooses to bring Ron DeSantis out at his show. Unreal.”
Another added: “You can’t say you stay away from politics and stand on the same stage as Ron DeSantis. You got played.”
“You came to Florida and hung out w @GovRonDeSantis ?? You just lost numerous fans!!,” wrote another.
However, there were others who came forward to support him as one wrote: “Ok so now people are crying about Luke Bryan having DeSantis on stage at his show. He was there because Bryan is donating the proceeds from his show in Estero to communities in need for the Florida Disaster Fund. Y’all are fighting the wrong fights, fam. Chill.”
Another added: “Nothing wrong w what went on that stage!! Raising money, donating to the relief fund it’s all good.”
Singer breaks his silence
Luke finally decided to break his silence on Twitter and address the backlash.
He said: “I typically don’t respond to stuff when I’m getting run down on a social platform but here’s the deal. I understand Governor Desantis is a very polarizing figure. But I grew up in a country where if a governor ask you if they can come and raise awareness to help victims of a natural disaster you help.”
He continued: “I’ve generally stayed out of politics throughout my career. I knew people would chatter about this but for me the more important piece was [if] I am going to come back there a few weeks after a large portion of people have been affected by a natural disaster in a state where people have been good to me this felt right.”
Luke ended the post by writing: “Raise awareness, have a little fun between the GA and FL college fans before the game and do what I love on stage. This is all I’m saying about this. I’ll be outdoors with my boys. Enjoy your Sunday. Love y’all #GoDawgs.”
