A Lithuanian man was rushed to the hospital last week after swallowing more than two pounds of metal in a bizarre attempt to stop drinking alcohol.
The man, who admitted to taking in the nails, screws, nuts, and knives, in a bid to curb his alcoholic addiction, underwent an emergency three-hour surgery at Klaipeda University Hospital, according to the BBC.
Some of the objects were four inches long and the surgeon, Sarunas Dailidenas, told the Lithuanian news site LRT, it was a “unique case.”
The man is now said to be in stable condition post-metal extraction.
