A man has revealed the disastrous outcome after he put his bottle of beer in his freezer.
The beer-lover, known as Alexis, took to his Twitter page to share the error.
Alexis had clearly been keen to cool down his bottle of Sol beer in the fridge.
However, it came out rather a bit colder than he had expected.
He admitted that he had only meant to put the beer in the freezer “for a few minutes”, but ended up forgetting about it – with disastrous consequences.
Alexis shared a snap with his 746 followers which showed the beer had frozen inside.
Not only that, it had expanded and smashed the bottle opened completely.
The beer now resembled more of an ice lolly as the beer top was held aloft by a tower of beer-flavoured ice.
Captioning the post, Alexis joked: “Yeah, it’s fine to stick a beer in the freezer for a few minutes. No, I won’t forget.”
The post had Twitter users giggling, as it racked up 1,500 retweets and more than 24,000 likes.
One told him: “Pro tip: set a kitchen timer.”
While another added: “Yup. Always, always set an alarm people.”
A third seemed baffled as they asked: “IN THE FREEZER?”
Others seemed to have had similar experiences, as one said: “I did it once. Can went. Freezer smelt of beer for months.”
While another added: “Did it with a plastic bottle of cola. It exploded broke the shelf and dented the interior (the freezer was 6 days old).”
A third chimed in: “We stuck a wine bottle in the freezer and the column of frozen wine pushed out the cork *and* forced the door open. We were woken by the alarm at about three in the morning.”
Beer and wine freezes when left in a freezer as the amount of alcohol is quite low, with the rest of the volume consisting of water and solutes
However, hard liquors like vodka don’t freeze in your home freezer. If anything, they could appear slightly thicker when you chill them in the freezer.
