A man who was allegedly armed with a gun has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, following a lengthy stand-off with police in Brisbane’s south.

It is believed the man was shot by police, ending a siege that lasted almost six hours inside a business on Compton Road in the suburb of Stretton on Monday.
“The man sustained serious injuries during the police response,” a Queensland Police spokesperson told AAP.
Queensland Police said officers were called to a disturbance at around 1.20pm before the situation “escalated”.
Police negotiators were called in at 3pm as surrounding businesses were evacuated and an exclusion zone was set up on Compton Road.

Emergency services vehicles were also on stand-by at a nearby petrol station.
Police issued several warnings on social media urging motorists to avoid the area while diverting traffic at Gowan Road and Condamine Street.
A spokesperson said the stand-off ended at 7.30pm when the man was shot and taken to hospital.
