Manchester United’s media team are preparing to unveil Cristiano Ronaldo as the club’s fourth summer signing, according to reports. The Red Devils have emerged as the overwhelming favourites to land the mercurial 36-year-old after Manchester City pulled out of the race for his signature earlier on Friday.
City had been eyeing a sensational move for Ronaldo after Pep Guardiola’s priority target, Harry Kane, committed his immediate future to Tottenham earlier this week.
Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had offered the services of his client to the defending Premier League champions, but the club withdrew their interest on Friday afternoon.
United have sprung into action with the intention of sealing a romantic return to Old Trafford for Ronaldo in the hours since.
Talks are understood to be at an advanced stage, with Juventus reportedly expected to accept a £24million offer from the Red Devils.
The club’s media team have now been instructed to prepare for Ronaldo’s official unveiling, according to Caught Offside.
