BioWare has revealed in a new update on its official website that Mass Effect 5 is currently in the prototyping phase.
The studio’s general manager, Gary McKay, confirmed that the project is still in its infancy, whereas Dragone Age 4, as previously reportedly, is in the middle of production. That’s hardly surprising though, as BioWare only confirmed it was working on a new Mass Effect in November 2020.
The team, led by Mike Gamble, is made up of a team of veteran developers as well as some new, really talented people.
They are all actively prototyping new ideas and experiences. AAA next-gen games take a long time to make – and we know our fans may want them sooner. But our Number One priority needs to be quality, and that simply takes time to get it right.

The new Mass Effect game is reportedly not going to start full production until 2023, and a job listing posted by the development team has indicated that the next chapter in sci-fi series will utilise the Unreal Engine 5.
