Parks & Recreation to present new master plan draft at open house
VICTORIA, Texas – Parks & Recreation’s newest draft of their master plan reflects several familiar requests from the Victoria community, including:
- a dog park,
- more trail connectivity,
- better upkeep of facilities and
- other improvements that could encourage residents to go out and enjoy the City’s parks.
“Master planning is truly a community-driven effort, and we appreciate the input we’ve received from hundreds of residents,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jason Alfaro. “We’re confident that residents will be happy with the finished product.”
On Oct. 21, the proposed master plan will be on display during an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Community Center dome, 2905 E. North Street. Parks & Recreation representatives and consulting firm Halff Associates will be in attendance to discuss the plan with residents.
You can also view the plan online at www.victoriatx.gov/masterplans.
Although the changes described in the plan are not final, the document is a guide that outlines projects that fit the community’s needs. It also identifies funding sources and partnerships that could help make these projects a reality.
You can comment on the master plan by filling out the comment cards provided at the open house event. You can also contact Alfaro at 361-485-3200 or parks@victoriatx.gov.
During the Nov. 16 council meeting, the plan will be presented to the City Council for possible adoption.
