Matty Johnson and Laura Byrne reveal why they turned down a reality show offer after The Bachelor: ‘We just wanted a normal, boring life’
Former Bachelor Matty Johnson has revealed he turned down an offer to star in his own reality show with fiancée Laura Byrne.
The 34-year-old told Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday the offer ‘just wasn’t the right fit’ for the couple, who are parents to two young daughters.
‘Maybe three years ago we got an offer to do a reality TV show and we said no to it,’ Matty said.

‘We just wanted to have a bit of a boring normal life and not mine up our lives too much for content,’ he added.
Matty said he would’ve preferred to do a comedy sketch show rather than a reality series so he could run around like a ‘silly young man’.
It comes after Matty spoke of the ‘brutal judgement’ that comes with raising a family in the public eye.
In a column for 9Honey, he said parents today are under ‘so much pressure to be perfect’.

Matty said he considers himself an ‘adept parent’ but admitted a troll’s comment about why his two-year-old daughter was still wearing nappies hurt his feelings.
He even found himself looking up on Google: ‘When should I get my toddler out of night-time nappies?’
Matty said that while he understands every child is different when it comes to ‘reaching key milestones’, it still bothers him when people ‘judge parents without any facts or context’.

He added: ‘Maybe people do this because there is so much pressure to be the perfect parent in today’s society, that criticising others makes us feel better about our own choices.
‘Or maybe people are just a**holes. I’m still trying to figure it out!
‘But shaming someone else about their parenting does nothing to reinforce that you yourself are in fact a good parent.’
Nasty: The 34-year-old, who shares two children with fiancée Laura, posted a video on Instagram of his daughter Marlie-Mae, two, (pictured) mispronouncing the word ‘barking’ so it sounded like a swear word. A troll responded by asking why the toddler was ‘still in nappies’
He concluded by urging parents to ‘tune out’ the trolls and ‘trust yourself’.
Matty and Laura fell in love on the 2017 season of The Bachelor. They got engaged while on holiday in Fiji in April 2018.
Laura co-hosts the popular podcast Life Uncut for ARN, and Matty runs Sydney-based creative agency Pineapple Productions.
