TikTok is one of the most popular and widely used social media platforms and it is constantly changing. It allows users to create videos, participate in different challenges and connect with other creators and a whole host of other features.
Similarly to other social apps, TikTok users can like, comment and share content, but there was no option to pin until now. So what does “pinning” mean and how do you do it?
Meaning of “Pinned” on TikTok explained
According to Distractify, the notion of “pinning” in TikTok relates to pinning comments. As with Instagram and YouTube, users are now able to pin comments on their comments sections in TikTok.
It can serve several purposes, including showing a creator’s favourite comment, highlighting important information and discouraging negative comments meaning that it can set the tone for the comments section.
It can also encourage users to share their views, and therefore increase overall engagement on the platform.

How do you pin to your comments section?
Most features on TikTok are relatively simple to use and this one is no different. To begin with, find the comment that you want to pin, then long-press the comment until a pop-up appears. Finally, select “Pin comment”.
How do I know if a comment has been pinned? Here’s how once complete a grey box with the word “Pinned” will appear on the left side of the comment, but bear in mind it may take a while for a pinned comment to move to the top of the comments section, and only one comment can be pinned at a time.
Pinning stickers on TikTok
Sometimes the best way to send the right message is using an emoji or sticker. You can also pin stickers on TikTok and doing this is another way to show your creative side. According to Social Media Today, users can place stickers on an object in a video clip, where it will stay in one place and change size based on the movement in the clip.
Firstly, users have to record a video and tap the next arrow to be directed to editing mode. Select “Stickers” at the bottom of the screen and find a sticker that you like. Move the sticker to the location of your choice, tap on it, and select “Pin”. Use the slider to decide on the placement of your sticker and select “Pin” once again.
If you only want the sticker to appear for a specific amount of time, you can also select “Set Duration” and use the slide bar to decide how long the sticker stays on the video.
