Lizzo is all set to launch her new shapewear line named Yitty in collaboration with Fabletics. Here’s the meaning behind the collection’s name.
As a young girl, the Grammy winner struggled to fit in, quite literally.
In her recent interview with CNBC, the songstress talked about having to wear body girdles and skin-tight corsets to school. This shapewear naturally contorted her body, an experience that was extremely uncomfortable for her.
The star’s new shapewear line aims to solve that problem for girls and women of all ages.

Meaning of Yitty revealed
Talking about the name of her brand, Lizzo revealed that it refers to a childhood nickname given to her by her aunt.
“Yitty is a nickname my auntie gave me when I was young,” the Good As Hell singer explained.
“She was a full-figured woman and one of the coolest people ever with bold, beautiful energy. I wanted that energy in this brand.”
Yitty is also a popular traditional Jewish name for girls. It means light in the Yiddish language.
The name is also used as the diminutive of the names Henriette and Henrietta in the old German language.

The new shapewear line marks Lizzo’s first business venture outside her music.
The apparel will release next month and is set to have a lot of neon colours and bold prints. It will be available in sizes XS to 6X and the costs will range from $14.95 to $69.95.
A press release from the brand reveals that the shapewear will release on April 12 this year.
Introducing her brand, Lizzo wrote on Instagram: “This is a dream 5 years in the making…. Introducing @YITTY: Shapewear you can wear Underwear, Overwear, Anywhere. For Every Damn Body.”
“I started to have fun with creating different shapes and silhouettes and looks and realized, ‘Oh, this is actually not a bad thing if I’m not doing something bad to my body,’” Lizzo recalls ideating the business.
