A report from website TechRadar has confirmed that the Metal Gear Solid 35th Anniversary website that mysteriously went up on April 1, 2022, is in fact a fake.
A spokesperson for Konami gave the following statement:
“This site is not Konami’s site. We are currently considering how to deal with this site.”
So the drought of real Metal Gear Solid news continues, as we wait for the day Konami actually announces the series return.
In regards to the anniversary though, when asked about whether or not they had plans for it, the same spokesperson simply said “We can’t say anything right now.”
Which doesn’t necessarily mean there’s nothing being planned, at least.
It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten a new game in the franchise, and even though Kojima has moved on to his own projects, there are plenty of fans who would love a new Metal Gear Solid game.
So long as it’s nothing like Metal Gear Survive, though.
