Miguel‘s return to music has been slow and steady, drip-feeding fans new songs here and there, and he’s now shared a previously unreleased track titled “Rope.”
Released on Wednesday (May 31), the singer’s latest track hears the San Pedro native contemplate life, death, and whether love can save a person in turmoil. “UNRELEASED PT.2,” Miguel wrote of the track on Instagram, while urging fans to check out the full song and video on YouTube.
In the visualizer, the “Sure Thing” singer is spotted on what looks to be found footage from a handheld camera, which mirrors that of another recently shared unreleased track called “SID.”
“All of your love/ I can’t recall/ At all,” he sings on “Rope.” “There’s a hole in my head/ That seemed so small/ Not anymore/ And all of our love/ Won’t save me now.”
He continues on the hook: “I’m hanging onto nothing/ I’m hanging from the ceiling/ Rope around my neck/ I’m hanging onto something/ The walls are closing in.”

Prior to the two previously unreleased tracks, he recently dropped off “Give It To Me,” his first solo single since 2021’s “So I Lie” from his Art Dealer Chic, Vol. 4 EP.
The Scoop DeVille-produced record hears the San Pedro native deliver sensual serenading lyrics accompanied by a pounding beat.
“You’ve been so tied up in your mind these days, I know/ A sweet distraction might be what you need to glow,” he sings. “Your body on inferno, inferno, your mind on my, my, my/ But you deserve to let go, to let go, to let yourself unwind.”
Ahead of the song’s release, the singer teased the single via an Instagram post, with a video of him strumming away on his guitar adorned all in red.
Aside from his appearance on Diplo’s 2022 single, “Don’t Forget My Love,” Miguel has been noticeably absent from the music scene. He was presumably recovering from the fallout from his divorce from Nazanin Mandi, whom he dated for 13 years before getting married in 2018.
Miguel’s last studio album was 2017’s War & Leisure, featuring Travis Scott, J. Cole, Rick Ross and more.
The singer’s acclaimed second album, Kaleidoscope Dream, turned 10 last October. Released September 25, 2012, the LP debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 71,000 copies. It features the singles “Adorn,” “Do You…,” and “How Many Drinks?”
