More than four million Americans quit their jobs in October as the Great Resignation shows no signs of stopping.
The record-breaking 4.2million – 2.8 per cent of the US work force – gave in their notice in search of better opportunities amid a surge in job openings, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
August’s numbers, at 4.3 million, were also a record at the time. In contrast, in February 2020, before the big wave of pandemic-related layoffs began, 2.3 percent of workers quit their jobs.
