The UK weather has dropped and it feels colder than ever.
Now with the days a lot shorter, the mornings are certainly chillier too.
And what comes with winter is the need to de-ice our cars in the morning.
Since it’s one of those dreaded jobs we hate doing first thing, luckily there are many simple tricks for it.
According to several videos, instead of scraping off the ice with a de-icer, drivers could use a sandwich bag instead.
This bag should be filled with lukewarm water and then dragged across the windscreen glass.
The ice melts within seconds and ensures drivers hands are kept nice and warm throughout.
One driver said the simple trick “works a treat” and claims it’s a fast way to defrost a vehicle.
He said: “Hot water in a food bag and bam you’ve got a de-icer and a hand warmer. Works a treat, and it’s fast.”
The motorist added: “I used warm tap water so I could safely hold it and lower the risk of cracking my screen.
“The de-icer cans are so cold in the morning and this way keeps you nice and toasty.”
Meanwhile other social media users jumped on the tip and now many are following it.
Since one TikTok user filled a plastic carrier bag with boiling water, more than 172,000 liked the post.
It’s worth remembering that using hot water on your frozen windscreen glass could cause it to shatter.
Holts Auto warns the sudden temperature changes may cause the glass to even break.

Experts at AA have also issued a warning on using lukewarm water on their vehicles.
They said: “Glass expands quickly when hot or even warm water touches it.
“But it’ll contract quickly too as it cools down in the cold air.
“That flexing can make the glass crack even if you’re using lukewarm water – especially if it had small chips or cracks already.”
