Mrs Hinch fans share ‘game-changing’ hack to dry clothes quickly without a tumble dryer

Fans of cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch have shared a handy hack to dry your clothes quickly without the use of a tumble dryer.

Many people battle to get their clothes dry during the winter and some people don’t have access to a tumble dryer.

Many also avoid tumble dryers if possible as they can be expensive to run – especially amid rocketing energy bills.

But luckily, Mrs Hinch fans were on hand to help out with recommendations in Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, according to YorkshireLive.

The suggestions came after one woman asked for some drying advice.

She wrote: “Could I ask how you all dry your washing indoors? I use a dryer and hang non-dryer items in the hall on a rail but I have put it away due to having lots of people over.

“I wish I had a utility space but I turned that into a home office. How do you guys dry your washing?”

Many took to the comments section to share their advice.

One person wrote: “Whatever you decide please remember the moisture needs to go somewhere.

“Drying clothes indoors, other than using a tumble dryer, will need a dehumidifier or you will cause all sorts of problems with condensation and dampness.

“Opening a window now and then isn’t enough, I’ve been there unfortunately.”

Dehumidifiers help to remove water and moisture from the air, helping to reduce the buildup of mould and dust mites.

Although they can sometimes be expensive, they can last for several years.

Dehumidifiers don’t have to be expensive machines, though – with most supermarkets selling passive dehumidifiers for around £3. These simply use crystals in a box that absorb moisture from the air.

They aren’t as quick as an electric one, but they do work.

Another member agreed, adding: “I have had a dehumidifier for years, it helps to speed up drying clothes too.”

While a third chimed in: “I have very limited radiator space in my house so I will put some of my drying on a rack and place a dehumidifier right near to it.

“Not only am I no longer worried about mould building up, it makes clothes dry so much quicker, it’s a game changer.”

Other group members also recommended investing in a space-saving drying rack.

One said: “I’ve got a washing rack which hangs from my ceiling in the kitchen and it’s brilliant. It’s up high so the washing dries faster, I also plug in a dehumidifier in the winter to help reduce the moisture.”
