Police are on the hunt for a gunman after multiple people were shot at in a shopping centre in Wisconsin, US.
An ‘active shooting incident’ erupted at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, near Milwaukee, at around 3pm local time on Friday afternoon.
At least three patients were seen being taken away by ambulance from the scene, CBS 58 in Milwaukee reported.
Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride confirmed there were multiple victims, but said that none of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
He said the shooter is ‘at large’ and that around 75 officers are at the scene.
It is not clear how many people have been shot but all those injured have been taken to hospital, Mayor McBride said.
A police officer at the front entrance of Froedtert Hospital told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that eight patients from Mayfair have been transported there.
Witnesses inside the mall reported hearing multiple gunshots before being asked to shelter in place, according to local media.
The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office tweeted it was not responding to the scene. It typically responds to scenes with deaths.
Mayfair Mall was the site of a shooting in February, when a police officer shot and killed Alvin Cole, a black 17-year-old.
Protests erupted in Wauwatosa in October following news that Officer Joseph Mensah would not face criminal charges.
