A BRITISH woman has been found dead near her yacht on the holiday island of Menorca, less than an hour after police were reportedly called to a bar where she had been rowing with her husband.
The unnamed 53-year-old’s body was found in the water in a port in the north-east of the island called Puerto de Addaya, around 2.45am this morning.
Local reports said Civil Guard officers had been called to a bar in the area just 45 minutes earlier to defuse a drunken row between the dead woman and her 55-year-old British husband.
She is said to have returned to the boat alone before cops reached the bar and they discovered her body floating in the water after a brief search.
Police are said to be focusing on the theory she slipped as she went to board the boat and went into the water because of the state she was in.
There were no signs of violence on her body.
No-one from the local Civil Guard could be reached this afternoon to comment.
Puerto de Addaya, Port d’Addaia in Catalan, is set on the headland between Cala Moli and a very picturesque inlet and makes for a perfect natural harbour.
It is also a residential area with a number of restaurants and bars.
There is no beach in Port Addadia, but there are two very attractive serviced beaches west along the coast at Arenal den Castell and Son Parc and another south east at Es Grau which is part of a nature reserve and very idyllic.
