NAGOYA – A driver reported to the police that his car got stuck after part of a road caved in at about 7.50am on Feb 6 in Japanese city Nagoya.
The left front tyre was immobilised in the cave-in which is 2m long, 2m wide and 1.5m deep.
The driver, 36, was reportedly not injured.
According to the Nagoya municipal government, there had been construction work near the cave-in until mid-January. That was to remove soil from a hole about 4m long, 12m wide and 11m deep so that an ageing water pipe could be repaired.
The city, which plans to investigate the connection to the cave-in, will suspend construction work in the area until it is confirmed to be safe, it said. THE JAPAN NEWS/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
