THE medal rush has continued for Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics!
Tom Dean and Duncan Scott won GOLD and SILVER for GB in the Men’s swimming 200m freestyle final in an incredible race as Britain’s amazing pool form carried on from Adam Peaty’s gold on Magic Monday.
While Georgia Taylor-Brown kicked off Day 4 of the Olympics with a stunning silver medal for Britain in the triathlon.
Manchester’s Taylor-Brown suffered a flat tyre on the final lap of the bike and fought back to emulate Alex Yee’s heroics from Monday.
Team GB now have 10 medals in the bag with the Tokyo Games truly up and running.
It was heartbreak, however, for Bianca Walkden in the Taekwondo semi-finals at 67kg as she was pipped 25-24 with a head-kick from Dabin Lee in the final second of their contest.
But there’s more potential for medals today for Team GB as Charlotte Dujardin is back in team dressage action from 9am.
The women’s gymnastics final is on from 11.45am, with GB aiming to finish on the podium.

WHAT A GUY
Double Olympic medallist James Guy was all of us through the night as Tom Dean and Duncan Scott bagged a memorable 1-2.
-
BIKING TO SEVENTH
Evie Richards finishes outside the medals in the mountain biking.
The Brit hopeful finishes a respectable seventh as Switzerland dominate the podium.
Jolanda Neff went pillar to post and dominated the field for gold.
While Sina Frei and Linda Indergand make it a clean sweep of Swiss medals.
-
HEARTBREAK ON THE WATER TOO
Kimberley Woods is reduced to tears as a couple of errors early in the canoe slalom puts her on the backfoot.
A huge penalty at gate 17 and she will finish down the bottom of the leaderboard.
It’s a formality as she gets to the end before the tears come.
Really not nice to see.
-
OH NO!
Bianca Walkden is OUT after a hugely dramatic final 10 seconds in her semi-final.
Bianca led 24-22 with a second to go. A head shot from the Korean bags three points and she nicks it at the death.
Heartbreaking, a cruel, cruel way to lose.
-
ALL-SQUARE!
A great kick from Walkden is followed by a great punch as it’s level at 22-22.
-
SUCCESSFUL!
Oh no! The gap is back to five points as she loses the two points.
19-15 the score for the Korean.

TENSE!

ROUND THREE HOTS UP

She has seven warnings as they continue to rack up – ten is a disqualification.
-
EARLY IN ROUND 3
And a head kick from Lee within the first few seconds is followed by a successful challenge from the Koreans.
A 13-11 scoreline is quickly changed to a 14-10 lead for Lee and Walkden has a huge 100 seconds ahead.
-
END OF ROUND 2
A bit more action there to say the least!
10-10 the score at the end of the second period as Walkden found herself 8-4 down after a head kick from Lee.
But the Liverpudlian keeps the head and makes use of her punches and a late trunk kick to get us all-square.
-
END OF ROUND 1
Tense, nervy opening period.
Bianca Walkden trails 3-0 after a couple of fouls. Not too much going on, bar a lot of noise from each camp.
-
WALK OUT
Biance Walkden is back out and faces Korean Dabin Lee.
A win here guarantees at least a silver medal!
-
THEY’RE THROUGH!
Britain duo Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury are through to the quarter finals of the doubles after a straight sets win.
The pair took the second set tie break 7-2 to advances to the latter stages.
They win 6-2, 7-6.
-
TIE-BREAK
Murray and Salisbury are locked in a second set tie break with their German opponents.
Given Murray’s injury concern, it would be great if they could close it out here.
-
GOING THE DISTANCE
Murray and Salisbury serve out a crucial service game at 4-5 as the Germans pile the pressure on at deuce.
5-5 going deep into the second set.
