Deputy Nationals leader David Littleproud says the party is yet to make a decision on a commitment to net zero, after a party room meeting to discuss the target.
The Nationals party room meeting has broken after several hours of discussion on potentially signing up to a more ambitious climate target before the COP26 Climate Change Conference.
The only Liberal MP in attendance was Energy Minister Angus Taylor, who presented a plan to the party.
Mr Littleproud said the party would “not be rushed” into making a decision on the commitment and said they would reconvene later in the week to make a formal decision.
“This will probably be one of the biggest decisions many of us will ever have to make while we’re here,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News host Chris Smith.
“There are still more questions that need to be answered. We are going to take our time to get it right.”
