Kejriwal’s record in New Delhi constituency
In 2013, Kejriwal made history by defeating then-Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Sheila Dikshit. In the 2020 elections, he secured the seat with a lead of 21,697 votes against BJP’s Sunil Kumar Yadav. Now, he is aiming for another victory to continue his party’s rule in Delhi.
The challengers: Verma and Dikshit
This time, Kejriwal is up against two strong opponents – BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.
Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, is a well-known BJP leader with a strong political background. He has experience in electoral battles and is expected to put up a tough fight.
Sandeep Dikshit, a seasoned politician and two-time MP, is trying to reclaim the New Delhi seat for Congress. As the son of the late Sheila Dikshit, Delhi’s longest-serving Chief Minister, he carries his family’s political legacy and hopes to revive his party’s fortunes in the capital.
