Sony’s release of PS5 system update 2.01-05.00.00.40 has caused a number of issues with owners of VRR displays, as it appears the latest patch automatically turns on the feature for compatible TVs.
Fortunately you are able to fix the problem by disabling VRR on the HDMI 2.1 port that your PS5 is connect to.
The latest PS5 patch has also resulted in a number of users reporting that PSN is down for them, with multiple franchises such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, FIFA, and more experiencing various problems with PS5’s online service.

Speaking of PS5 VRR functionality, Sony has confirmed that the feature is in the pipeline, but won’t be available until a future update.
