Nageeye, who was born in Somalia and competes for the Netherlands, said entering the weekend that his goal was to win and he really believed that he could. He will have to compete with a field that also includes Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia, who hopes to add another marathon victory to his already illustrious career. Bekele has won three Olympic gold medals — in the 10,000 meters at the 2004 Athens Games and in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in Beijing in 2008 — five world championships (four in the 10,000 and one in the 5,000) and two Berlin Marathons.
