NFL Power Rankings for Week 1: Patriots and everyone else

1. Patriots (1-0): Absolutely no signs of slowing down for Bill Belichick’s reigning Super Bowl champs, and now Tom Brady gets to infuse shiny new toy Antonio Brown into an attack that racked up 465 total yards in Sunday night’s rout of the Steelers and ahead of a road game against the pitiful Dolphins, who were smoked for 59 points in Week 1 by Baltimore.

2. Rams (1-0): A road win is a road win for Sean McVay’s team, as the Rams opened their NFC title defense by edging Carolina 30-27 before returning to Los Angeles for a Week 2 showdown with the Saints. Malcolm Brown ran for two scores and Todd Gurley ran for 89 yards in the second half after amassing eight yards on just five first-half carries.

3. Chiefs (1-0): Reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes shredded Jacksonville’s defense for 211 yards in the first quarter and 378 overall with three touchdowns. Tyreek Hill suffered an injured shoulder and will miss this week’s game against Oakland, but Sammy Watkins caught nine balls for 198 yards and all three Mahomes scoring throws. The Chiefs are 10-2 straight-up versus the Raiders the past six seasons.

4. Ravens (1-0): Second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson led Baltimore to team records in points and total yards (643) in a 59-10 crushing of Miami. Two of his five touchdown passes were deep balls to first-round pick Marquise Brown. Next up is an intriguing home matchup with No. 1-overall pick Kyler Murray and the Cardinals.]

5. Saints (1-0): New Orleans barely pulled one out against Deshaun Watson and Houston in a terrific “Monday Night Football” opener behind 370 yards and two TD tosses from Drew Brees and a 58-yard field goal as time expired from Wil Lutz. Sean Payton’s team will look to avenge its controversial OT loss in the NFC title game against the Rams on a short week.

6. Cowboys (1-0): For a team loaded with contract uncertainty all summer, Dallas was highly impressive offensively Sunday against the Giants, with another NFC East game against Washington looming. The O-line remains as good as it gets, allowing only one quarterback pressure and zero sacks of Dak Prescott, who threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns, with Ezekiel Elliott also finding the end zone three days after ending his contract holdout.

7. Eagles (1-0):
Philly spotted the Redskins 17 early points, but Carson Wentz hooked up twice for deep touchdowns with returning star wideout DeSean Jackson for a 32-27 win. This week they get Matt Ryan and the Falcons, coming off a disappointing opening loss to Minnesota.

8. Seahawks (1-0):
Seattle was outgained by roughly 200 yards (429-233), but still pulled out a one-point decision over the Bengals. The Seahawks’ D forced four fumbles and recovered three, two by Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton. An efficient Russell Wilson’s second TD toss — a 44-yard strike to Tyler Lockett early in the fourth quarter — put them ahead to stay. They visit Pittsburgh, another AFC North foe, this week.

9. Titans (1-0):
Cleveland was the trendy pick in the AFC, but the Titans opened their bid for a fourth straight winning season by shutting out Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr. and the Browns in the second half of a thorough 43-13 victory. Tennessee was crushed twice last year by Week 2 opponent Indianapolis (71-27 combined), but that was before Andrew Luck’s sudden retirement.

10. Chargers (1-0):
Melvin Gordon’s contract holdout didn’t hurt the Chargers’ ground game in Week 1, as Austin Ekeler totaled 154 yards from scrimmage with three touchdowns, including a seven-yard run in overtime against the Colts. The Bolts visit Detroit for the first time since 2011 on Sunday.

11. Texans (0-1)

12. Packers (1-0)

13. Browns (0-1)

14. Steelers (0-1)

15. Vikings (1-0)

16. Bears (0-1)

17. Falcons (0-1)

18. Panthers (0-1)

19. Bills (1-0)

20. 49ers (1-0)

21. Raiders (1-0)

22. Broncos (0-1)

23. Redskins (0-1)

24. Jets (0-1): Adam Gase’s “electric” offense went unplugged and the Jets flushed a 16-point lead against Buffalo in his New York coaching debut, a brutal loss even by their historical standards. A Monday night matchup with Beckham and the Browns should make for a crazy Week 2 one way or the other.

25. Jaguars (0-1)

26. Colts (0-1)

27. Lions (0-0-1)

28. Cardinals (0-0-1)

29. Bengals (0-1)

30. Giants (0-1): The sixth Week 1 meeting against Dallas in eight years headed straight downhill after Big Blue grabbed an early 7-0 lead. Pat Shurmur needs to get Saquon Barkley more than 15 touches, and James Bettcher’s defense can’t have a repeat of its no-sacks, no-turnovers showing this week against Buffalo.

31. Buccaneers (0-1)

32. Dolphins (0-1)
