One Piece chapter 1040 spoilers leak online
Today, the detailed spoilers for One Piece chapter 1040 were shared online by the OPspoiler Twitter page.
According to the social media post, the next chapter in the iconic series will be titled “Words that has no effect on New Generation” and on the cover, Niji and Yonji can be seen in a flashback being defeated by Big Mom.
The chapter opens with Big Mom being able to withstand the massive attack from Kid’s new electromagnetic canon from the last chapter. She smiles and tries to use her ‘Life or Slave’ power, which takes 50 years from the lifespans of surrounding people or turns them into her slaves.
She is only able to take a few lifespans from the nearby Kid Pirates and Heart Pirates before Law interrupts her. Big Mom tries to take the lifespans of Kid and Law, but it appears to have no effect.
Law is able to stop her from calling out to her subordinates using R Room: Silent as Kid continues to barrage Big Mom with shots until the floor underneath her collapses.
Big Mom then falls through to the Armory beneath, taking Kazenbou and all the frozen bombs with her as she plummets down further below. There is a massive explosion from the Armory with Big Mom then falling straight through the bottom of Onigashima.
As she tumbles, she thinks about Roger and asks “Why didn’t you just say it before you die, Roger?! What exactly is One Piece and where is it?!”
She falls further into the hole in Wanokuni created by Law’s attack in the last chapter, screaming back up to Kid and Law that this won’t kill her. However, a huge explosion occurs when she finally hits the floor, with the narrator exclaiming…Law and Kid are the winners of the battle!
Meanwhile, Momonosuke tells Yamato that Zunisha is near, Yamato is quite surprised at this news and is curious “if it’s the elephant that appears in Oden’s journal.” Momonosuke replies, “Yes! It’s Joy Boy’s Nakama who committed a crime 800 years ago!!”
As always, leaked spoilers for any One Piece chapters are usually pretty accurate but are significantly shortened until the day of release thanks to the raw scans.
Live-action One Piece series settles in South Africa
Whilst One Piece 1040 will be on everyone’s mind this week, it’s not the only news story that has the community excited. Netflix is adapting the iconic One Piece series into a live-action drama and this week, filming officially began on the South African set.
There had been numerous reports that a South African production environment was to be used for the live-action series, following several images of a One Piece-like ship settling in a local harbour.
Thankfully, the production team have now settled in South Africa and at the Cape Town Film Studios, following confirmation of the cast late last year.
“Much like the search for the One Piece itself. But we have finally found the perfect fit. They have already begun working very hard to bring these characters to life. You will come to know and love them just as much as their manga counterparts. All of us can’t wait to show you what we’ve come up with! Onward to adventure.” Producers Maeda and Matt Owens, via KFTV.
An important aspect of One Piece’s Red movie
On Thursday, February 10th, Toei Animation held their 2022 film lineup press conference. Producer at Toei Animation Shinji Shimizu revealed that Eiichiro Oda had two specific requests for One Piece Red.
The first was that a director must be brought in who “isn’t necessarily involved with the TV series”. The job went to Code Geass director Goro Taniguchi, with Shimizu noting that instances, where a new director is brought into Toei Animation, is rare.
The second request was that the movie gives “an important role to a female character.” This was apparently quite difficult to do said Shimizu, but it was down to screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa for “putting it all together”.
As noted by Anime News Network, he ended by stating that Oda was “just as, if not even more heavily involved in One Piece Film Red than he was in One Piece Film Strong World, which he wrote the story for” – good news for fans!
Say bye-bye to Bon Bon!
This week, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced that the smartphone game One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey! was to end its live service.
According to Siliconera, the game will shut down on April 6th, 2022, with the exact time varying by region.
One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey! may have been a simple puzzle game, but it was very popular within the community, with over 22,000 reviews on the Google Play Store.
Players can still purchase the in-game currently until March 7th, 2022, but will only be able to use this until D-day in April.
