-8°. That was the wind chill this morning in Springfield. It’s days like this that make me wish spring was already here. Sadly, we are only halfway through this arctic assault.
Thankfully, I believe today was the coldest day we will experience out of this stretch. Both Monday and Tuesday are forecasted to be warmer, but only slightly. First, we have to get through a cold night.
Overnight lows will be in the approaching sub-zero. I have Springfield forecasted at 2°. Funny enough the last time temperatures were that cold in the Ozarks was exactly 365 days ago.
The feels-like forecast for the morning hour is expected to be in the negatives before gradually warming up during the day. High temperatures will climb into the upper teens and lower 20s. Fortunately, winds won’t be as fast for tomorrow as what we experienced today allowing the real feel to climb out of the single digits.
Something worth mentioning, tomorrow evening there’s a chance of us getting a light dusting of snowfall as a cold front pushes south and reinforces the arctic chill.
Tomorrow night will be every bit as cold as tonight will be. Single-digit lows with temperatures approaching zero. Sunny skies return for Tuesday with highs trapped in the lower 20s.
Go ahead and circle Wednesday on your calendar as the day to look forward to. Temperatures will finally exceed the freezing mark on Wednesday afternoon. Snapping a roughly 100-hour streak below 32°.
Besides the light dusting on snowfall that will be possible tomorrow, our precip chances look slim to none for this week. Warmer by the weekend as temperatures in the 50s will be possible for Saturday.
