With the roadmap to exit lockdown explained, and the UK beginning to open up on Monday, many of us are thinking ahead to summer and want to look our best.
With reports projecting that the global cosmetic skincare market size will grow by £27.27 billion during 2020-21, it’s no secret that we are all taking more care of our skin than ever before.
Retinol, vitamin C, ampoules and masks have been splashed across social media as we pamper our way to glowy “glass” skin – but what about “orgasm skin”?
After all, there is so much more to keeping your skin fresh and glowing than using facial oils and serums…
Sex-tech and wellness brand Satisfyer revealed that it considers orgasms the natural secret to glowing skin.
This is because of the different chemicals released in the brain when we experience extreme pleasure.
Orgasms can benefit your skin in a whole range of different ways whether you have them solo or with a partner, reports the sex toy company.
But, is it true that the Big O can give you smooth and glowing skin? We certainly hope so…
Dr Mukesh Gupta, an obstetrician and gynaecologist, told Indian Express : “Orgasms release sex hormones that benefit the skin, like estrogen, which is responsible for maintaining collagen.
“It is an essential protein that aids the appearance of youthful skin and also has anti-aging effects.
“It prevents collagen and elastin breakdown, which helps delay the signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkle formation.”
The doctor added: “Orgasms trigger surges of neurochemicals, oxytocin and prolactin which are powerful relaxant hormones that regulate sleep and induce relaxation.
“Orgasms enhance physical and mental health, as they release endorphins or feel-good hormones, in the body, proving to be a major mood lifter, thus contributing to your happiness quotient, which in turn reflects on your skin health.”

In a press release, Satisfyer added: “During an orgasm, a surge of endorphins and oxytocin are released from the brain, these chemicals help to regulate and lower cortisol, which helps reduce inflammation and naturally ward off common skin problems such as acne, rashes and eczema.
“Sexual activity can also increase blood flow and circulation, boosting oxygen-filled blood cells in the face to give you a radiant rosy look, which is why people often refer to it as the ‘post coital glow’ so why not swap out the blush in your make up bag for a pressure vibrator that will get your blood pumping.”
They recommend the Satisfyer Traveler, £35.95, but your favourite toy will do the trick too.
