POLICE in Gobowen say they will be talking to local schools and liaising with Shropshire Fire and Rescue service to stamp down on deliberate fires being lit in the village.
Officers from Oswestry Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) posted to its social media pictures of a fires left on Gobowen Playing Fields, where deodorant cans – which explode – and books were burnt.
A spokesman said: “Oswestry SNT has been, and will continue to, patrolling the playing fields in Gobowen following reports of fires being lit, will be liaising with Shropshire Fire and local schools to attempt to identify the culprits and educate them on their actions.”
