AT THE March meeting, Oswestry WI members were lifted high into the air in a hot air balloon.
Barbara Peart joined the Oswestry Ballooning Club in the 1980s and was a crew member for many years helping to inflate and retrieve balloons.
Before mobile phones it was sometimes tricky locating the balloon when it had landed and then finding the landowner for permission to retrieve the balloon with a vehicle.
A spokesman for the WI added: “Fiona welcomed members and informed members of the health of some members who were unable to be at the meeting. Jerusalem was sung.
“St Martins WI have invited us to join them in May for a visit from Ellesmere Amateur Dramatic Society.
