Amanda Owen discusses being a TV shepherdess

Amanda Owen has reportedly said that she “doesn’t regret” inviting the public into her life through Our Yorkshire Farm – which recently concluded its fifth series on Channel 5.

The reality series, which debuted in 2018, follows Amanda, 47, and her husband, Clive Owen, 67 on Ravenseat Farm in Yorkshire – documenting their life on the 2,000 acre estate.

The farming couple, who are understood to have been married for more than 20 years, appear on the show alongside their nine children – with their youngest aged four.

The family are shown taking on their duties at the farm and have opened up about tougher times in their lives as well.

It’s led to interest in the family’s life off-screen and despite the intrusion, Amanda “doesn’t regret” taking part in the Channel 5 series, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The shepherdess told the outlet: “I think it is important that people see the reality of living on a farm. We are just a normal family dealing with everything life throws at us.”

She said in the recent interview that Our Yorkshire Farm is “life as it’s happening,” whether it’s being filmed or not, adding: “That’s what keeps everybody grounded.”

Amanda said that it’s “hard work being a farmer” but stated she will “do everything it takes” to provide for her family.

Back in October, reports emerged to suggest Amanda had moved out of her family home and she was assessing her future with husband Clive.

A source told The Sun at the time: “It’s incredibly sad. Amanda and Clive are two hugely popular figures here in the Dales, and no one saw this coming.

“Clive loves Amanda to bits and adores her, and fears the marriage may be failing even though he desperately doesn’t want it to. He fears they will divorce.”

However, the couple took steps to shoot down the speculation – telling the MailOnline last month in a shared statement: “With the TV show and the books we’ve always aimed to show the reality of life on the farm.

“And just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids.”

It comes following the release of her latest book, titled Celebrating the Seasons with the Yorkshire Shepherdess – which provides further insight into life on the farm.

The new book – her fifth – features “charming stories” about life with her family, “gorgeous photographs” showcasing the landscape of the farm and some of her “favourite” recipes.

The family first appeared in the ITV documentary series The Dales in 2011 – later becoming the focus of Our Yorkshire Farm, which first aired on Channel 5 back in 2018.
